Romantic Lace Mermaid Wedding Dress with Spaghetti Straps
My beautiful dress was purchased as a bridal size 10 from Vera's Bridal in Madison, WI. When I was shopping for this dress, I knew I was looking for something with spaghetti straps and a sweetheart neckline, and most of the dresses I chose for try-on would be described as a mermaid style. I was looking for something that would be timeless, with a light lace, and something about it just felt like the dress fit my personality.
I would describe this dress as soft, not too flashy (tiny sequins spread throughout) but beautiful in its own way. The area under the chest is slightly sheer (kinda reminds me of the sheerness of pantyhose - can't see blemishes but can still tell there is skin there up close) I didn't want a dress that was too sheer where you could see the fabric that was required for shaping the bodice.
I go back and forth about whether or not I want to sell my dress because it is so beautiful. It holds some of the memories of our fairy tale wedding; however, if it can make someone else's wedding dreams come true at a fraction of the price I spent, I would be happy to help. Pictures included show details of the fabric, the back of the dress, and how the dress looks when it's bustled.
Alterations included taking in the side seams on the front and side, hem 1 &1/2 inch, tightened straps, and 14 bustles (lining -1, outer - 13) which cost an additional $606 dollars.
The dress fit me like a glove after alterations. I'm 5'2" (wore white sandals under my dress- no heels), my bust size is 34C, and I normally wear a small shirt and size 5/26 in Kancan jeans if that's helpful.
Condition: I don't feel like there are any blemishes on the dress, no drinks or food were spilled, and the dress was professionally cleaned/preserved shortly after the wedding via the following linked online company (
