Classic and Contemporary Fit & Flare Gown from The Milano Collection

I had several appointments on the day I found my wedding dress, but it only took one when the day to try on gowns arrived. I wanted something figure-flattering - I'm a bit hippy! - that had cap sleeves and lace accents. Yes, I was that specific in my hunt. This one ticked all of my boxes, made me feel AMAZING, and I couldn't have imagined a better pick.

  • Full lace dress with exquisite beadwork
  • Illusion lace cap sleeves
  • Keyhole back

Why I Love This Dress: It's got lace but it has some sparkle in the bodice, too. It moves well whether you've got it bustled or not...but when bustled, get ready to dance! It looks beautiful coming and going, as it's got an open back while still keeping things classy.

Alterations I've Made: The dress was an 8 off the rack. Back then, I was a US size 6-8, so it didn't need much to take in but did do some alterations to the bust and waist. I added cups so I wouldn't need to wear a bra underneath and took it in on top to make it fit better from the waist up. I also had to shorten it a few inches. I'm 5'9", but was swimming in the length and was planning on flats for the big day. The beautiful train remained, and it has an easy bustle that looks quite beautiful when all pinned up. For perspective on length, it still skimmed the ground without my flats on.

Other Details: The sparkle is most prominent in the bodice, but it runs all the way through the gown, too. As far as condition, I thought I may give this one away to family at one point so had it professionally cleaned and preserved in a "museum box," which is quite the investment in itself.

It's ready to find a new home and make your special day as wonderful as mine was!
